PRACTICAL GUIDE
Make cooperation easier to explain
In some shared games the conversation is part of the challenge. A small communication plan can be more useful than both players independently knowing what to do.
Use concrete descriptions
Agree on names for locations or tasks. Replace a vague instruction with a description that the other person can distinguish from alternatives on their screen.
Announce a handover
In a running process such as a kitchen or railway, changing responsibility without saying so can leave a job undone. Make the transfer explicit before acting.
Choose the pressure together
Instructions about a fictional device and busy resource tasks are different forms of stress. Stop and reassess if the format is frustrating rather than enjoyable for someone involved.
